Myer Briggs

Isabel Briggs Myers was an American theorist on psychology. Together with her mother Katherine Cooke Briggs they developed the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator™ in 1942. It is based on the work of Carl Jung and measures traits such as intelligence and defines your personality preferences in terms of whether you fall into Extraversion or Intraversion, Sensing or Intuition, Thinking or Feeling or Judging/Perception. These 4 pairs combine to give E/I S/N T/F J/P = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 16 different personality types shown below.

Note that there is some controversy over the accuracy of Myers Briggs as they are not validated scientifically, say compared to DiSC personality systems.

According to Malcolm Gladwell two 2.5 million Americans take Myers-Briggs tests each year and 89 out of the Fortune 100 use it for recruitment or training.
